West Bengal Opinion Poll 2026: In the 294-member Legislative Assembly, the party led by Mamata Banerjee is projected to win between 184 and 194 seats—a figure well above the majority mark. The BJP is projected to secure 98 to 108 seats, while smaller parties are expected to remain on the margins.

The disparity in vote share further underscores this lead. The TMC’s vote share is estimated at 41.9%, while the BJP’s is projected to stand at 34.9%. This indicates a decisive lead that could translate into a strong mandate.

Mamata Banerjee remains the face of the party’s popularity; 48.5% of respondents identified her as their first choice for Chief Minister. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari trails her with 33.4%. Furthermore, 36.5% of respondents expressed a desire to re-elect incumbent TMC MLAs, suggesting that the sitting legislators enjoy a certain degree of public support.

As political momentum builds in West Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, a fresh opinion poll has sparked discussion across the state. The survey, conducted by Vote Vibe and highlighted in recent media coverage, gives an early snapshot of how voters may be leaning.

TMC/BJP/Others: Seat Projections 2026 Elections (West Bengal Opinion Pol)

According to the latest opinion poll:

    • Trinamool Congress (TMC): 184–194 seats
    • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 98–108 seats
    • Others: 1–3 seats

With the West Bengal Assembly consisting of 294 seats, a party needs 148 seats to form the government.

Mixed Reactions to Governance; Unemployment Emerges as the Top Concern

Despite the party’s strong electoral position, public opinion regarding governance remains divided. Approximately 43.3% of respondents rated the government’s performance as “good” or “very good,” while a significant segment expressed dissatisfaction: 20.6% rated it as “very poor,” and 18.3% as “poor.”

A breakdown by community reveals even greater disparities. Satisfaction levels were higher among members of the Muslim community, whereas upper-caste Hindus and ST were more critical. This pattern of dissatisfaction remained largely consistent across all regions and age groups.

Unemployment has emerged as the single most significant issue in the election, with 37.2% of respondents identifying it as the most critical concern. Law and order (including women’s safety) ranked second at 15.9%, followed by inflation (10.5%) and corruption (10.3%). Concerns regarding SIR also emerged prominently among certain specific groups.

    Challenges Facing the BJP:

On the other hand, the BJP is grappling with challenges related to its public image. Internal party infighting (19.9%), the lack of a strong state-level leader (17.2%), and a perceived disconnect from Bengali culture (12.5%) are viewed as the party’s primary weaknesses. Organizational shortcomings and an inability to effectively communicate its message to the public are also weighing heavily on the party’s prospects, while 22.5% of respondents offered no opinion regarding the party’s weaknesses. Overall, these results suggest that—even as voter concerns persist—the TMC’s strong leadership and lead in vote share could propel Mamata Banerjee to power for a fourth consecutive term.

    Clear Edge for TMC

The numbers indicate that the ruling Trinamool Congress is projected to comfortably cross the majority mark. If these estimates hold true, the party could secure a third consecutive term in power. The projected range suggests not just a win, but a potentially stable mandate.

BJP Remains Main Challenger (West Bengal Opinion Poll)

The BJP continues to position itself as the principal opposition force in the state. While the party is expected to secure a significant number of seats, the gap between BJP and TMC remains considerable in this survey.

    Minimal Space for Others

Regional parties and independents appear to have limited impact in this projection, with only a handful of seats expected to go outside the two major parties.

    What This Means

Opinion polls offer an early indication of voter sentiment, but they are not final results. Campaign strategies, alliances, candidate selection, and voter turnout can all influence the actual outcome on election day
