    United Nations Police Recruitment 2026: Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, [Police-Il Division] Pers. Policy Section has released a notification for the recruitment and launch of Recruitment proeess for two posts in the United Nations Of{ice in the African Union ONOAU) – reg.

    The Government of India has officially launched the recruitment process for two international police advisory posts under the United Nations. The opportunity is open for senior police officers currently serving in India who meet the required eligibility criteria.

    According to an official communication issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on 12 March 2026, nominations are being invited for two positions in the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This recruitment is part of India’s participation in global peacekeeping and international policing initiatives led by the United Nations.

    Nomination of eligible and willing officers in the rank of SP/DIG for P’4 Level active in police service for the above said posts may be forwarded through the proper channel to this Ministry by 08th April 2026, along with the requisite documents duly signed and completed in all respects as mentioned in Annexure-I & II. The nominations without Vigilance clearance and Cadre Clearance (for all Officers) from respective Ministries/Departments/State or UT/Organizations shall be summarily rejected. Applications received through p{oper channel only, i.e., through the Home Department (State)/ approval of the Head of Organizationl UT division in case of AGMUT cadre officers, 1{itt Ue entertained. Applications received after the deadline specified, i.e., 08.05.2026, will not be considered

    UN Police Recruitment 2026 – Available Positions

    The recruitment notification mentions two senior-level advisory positions:

    1. Police Planning Adviser (P-4 Level) – Addis Ababa
    2. Police Reform Adviser (P-4 Level) – Addis Ababa

    Only two posts are available in total, and applicants must be serving officers of the Indian police services at the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

    • Preparing strategic police planning frameworks
    • Conducting assessments and technical missions
    • Developing planning tools and evaluation mechanisms
    • Providing expert advice on police operations and planning

    These responsibilities help strengthen coordination between the United Nations and the African Union in peacekeeping operations.

    Police Reform Adviser

    The Police Reform Adviser will focus on improving police systems and operational strategies within African Union peacekeeping missions.

    Key duties include:

    • Advising on police reform strategies
    • Supporting training and institutional capacity building
    • Developing police reform frameworks for AU missions
    • Coordinating with UN and international partners
    • Providing guidance on peacekeeping operations and law enforcement reforms

    The role aims to enhance the professional standards and operational efficiency of police forces involved in international missions.

    Eligibility Criteria for United Nations Police Recruitment

    Candidates must meet the following requirements:

    • Must be an active police officer
    • Minimum rank: Superintendent of Police (SP) or higher
    • Minimum 7 years of professional law enforcement experience
    • At least 5 years of experience at policy or strategic level
    • Expertise in police management, strategic planning, operations, or training
    • Fluency in English language

    Knowledge of additional UN languages such as French or Arabic will be considered an advantage.

    Educational Qualification

    Applicants must have:

    • An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in fields such as:
      • Law
      • Criminal justice
      • Police sciences
      • Police administration or related subjects

    Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience may also be considered.

    Graduation from a recognized police academy or law enforcement training institution is mandatory.

    Application Process for United Nations Police Recruitment

    Eligible officers must submit nominations through the proper government channel.

    • Employment and Academic Certification (EAC)
    • APAR/ACR gradings of the last five years
