Sealdah Division New EMU Services 2026: In a move aimed at improving passenger convenience, the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has announced several new and extended train services connecting Gede and nearby routes. These services will be introduced on a temporary and experimental basis starting March 16.
To prioritize passenger convenience, the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has initiated several new services. Steps are being taken to improve connectivity with Ged. Starting March 16 (Monday), the Sealdah Division will introduce additional services on a temporary and trial basis.
The initiative is expected to strengthen connectivity between Sealdah, Gede, Ranaghat, Naihati, and Majerhat, benefiting daily commuters across the suburban railway network in West Bengal.
Sealdah–Barrackpore Local Extended to Gede (Sealdah Division New EMU Services)
One of the key changes includes the extension of the Sealdah–Barrackpore local train up to Gede.
- Train 31227 Sealdah–Barrackpore Local will now run as 31931 Sealdah–Gede Special.
- The train will depart Sealdah at 9:28 AM and reach Gede at 12:07 PM.
The return service will also be adjusted:
- Train 31226 will now operate as 31930 Gede–Sealdah Special.
- It will leave Gede at 8:26 AM and arrive at Sealdah at 10:57 AM.
This extension is expected to make travel easier for passengers commuting between Kolkata and the border town of Gede.
Sealdah–Naihati Local Also Extended
Another important change is the extension of the 31431 Sealdah–Naihati Local train.
- The train will now run as 31933 Sealdah–Gede Special.
- It will depart Sealdah at 4:50 PM and arrive in Gede at 7:38 PM.
The extension is expected to provide an additional evening option for commuters travelling toward Nadia district.
New Direct Train Between Gede and Majerhat
To benefit cross-sectional passengers, Eastern Railway has introduced a direct train service connecting Gede and Majerhat.
This service has been created by linking the Gede–Ranaghat route with the Naihati–Majerhat line.
- Train 30144 Gede–Majerhat Special will depart Gede at 4:15 PM.
- It will arrive at Majerhat at 7:28 PM.
This direct service is expected to significantly reduce travel time for passengers who previously needed to change trains.
New EMU Services on the Gede–Ranaghat Route
Eastern Railway has also introduced three additional EMU special services on the Gede–Ranaghat section to improve local connectivity.
New services include:
- 31761 Ranaghat–Gede EMU Special
- Departs Ranaghat at 7:05 AM
- Arrives Gede at 7:57 AM
- 31762 Gede–Ranaghat EMU Special
- Departs Gede at 1:00 PM
- Arrives Ranaghat at 1:55 PM
- 31764 Gede–Ranaghat EMU Special
- Departs Gede at 8:25 PM
- Arrives Ranaghat at 9:21 PM
These additional trains are aimed at easing passenger congestion during peak travel hours.
Boost for Suburban Rail Connectivity (Sealdah Division New EMU Services 2026)
The Sealdah Division has been continuously upgrading suburban services to accommodate the growing number of commuters in the Kolkata metropolitan region.
By extending routes and introducing new services, Eastern Railway hopes to:
- Improve passenger convenience
- Reduce overcrowding in local trains
- Provide better connectivity between districts
- Support daily commuters and workers travelling to Kolkata
