Autobiography of Syed Mosharaf Hossain: I was born on 1st April 1997 in the small village of Tilaboni, near Durgapur in West Bengal. My village was primarily a Muslim community, where access to quality education and resources was quite limited. Like many children growing up in rural India, my early life was simple, shaped by modest surroundings but strong values.
Despite the challenges, my village played a crucial role in shaping who I am today. It taught me resilience, discipline, and the true importance of education. From a young age, I realized that education was not just a necessity but a powerful tool that could change my future and help me overcome the limitations of my environment.
From a young age, I was curious about how things worked. While others saw limitations, I saw possibilities. My schooling years were not always easy, but I stayed focused on learning and self-improvement. I later pursued higher education in Electronics and Communication Engineering, completing my Diploma, B.Tech, and M.Tech with determination and a clear goal—to do something meaningful for society.
My journey was never just about personal success. I always believed that education should empower others as well. This belief became the foundation of my career.
During my early years, I started an electronics repair shop named “A to Z Electronic” along with my friend Subhas Pal in 2012 at Laudoha. I took this step to support my education, as I was studying science, which required significant expenses.
Managing both my studies and the shop was not easy, but it taught me responsibility, time management, and practical skills. This experience helped me understand the value of hard work and self-reliance at a very young age.
During my school life, when I was in Class 11, I participated in a State-Level Science and Technology Fair organized by the Government of West Bengal in 2015. It was a significant moment for me, as I got the opportunity to present my own innovation.
My project was based on the concept of wireless power transmission, inspired by Nikola Tesla’s ideas. The model demonstrated how electricity could be transmitted without wires, which attracted attention for its practical and futuristic approach.
I was proud to win this competition at the state level. This achievement gave me recognition and boosted my confidence, encouraging me to continue working on innovative ideas and pursue my passion for science and technology.
After that, my biggest innovation—the Women Safety Smart Shoe System—was developed during my B.Tech journey, although the idea first came to me during my diploma studies. This project was very close to my heart, as it aimed to address real safety concerns faced by women in society.
The smart shoe system was designed with features like emergency alerts, GPS tracking, and a self-defense mechanism. This innovation brought me recognition at a national level. My work was appreciated widely and was featured in several newspapers and news channels.
This achievement not only gave me recognition but also strengthened my belief that technology can be used to solve real-life problems and create a positive impact on society.
Turning Point: Innovation with Purpose
One of the most defining moments in my life came when I developed a smart shoe system for women’s safety. This innovation combined GPS tracking, GSM alerts, and even an electric shock mechanism to help women defend themselves in dangerous situations.
This idea was not born in a laboratory but from real social concerns. I wanted to create something practical, affordable, and impactful. The recognition that followed—India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, and World Book of Records—was encouraging, but more important was the purpose behind it: contributing to safety and empowerment.
This innovation brought me several prestigious awards and recognitions. I was honored by the India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, and World Book of Records for my work. In addition, I received the Best Innovation Award from the Government of West Bengal and the Paschim Banga Bigyan Award.
These recognitions were a great encouragement for me. They not only acknowledged my efforts but also motivated me to continue working on innovative ideas that can contribute to society.
Becoming a Principal
My journey eventually led me to serve as the Principal of Purbasthali-II Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in West Bengal.
Taking this responsibility was not just a career milestone—it was a mission. I wanted to transform the institute into a center of innovation and skill development. Under my leadership, we introduced digital classrooms, personality development programs, and modern training approaches to prepare students for real-world challenges.
I strongly believe that technical education can change lives, especially for students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds—just like mine.
Recognition and Responsibility
Over the years, my work in education and innovation has been recognized at various levels. Awards such as “Principal of the Year” and “Best Inventor” motivated me further, but they also reminded me of a greater responsibility—to continue working for society and inspire young minds.
I have also been involved in social initiatives, constructive journalism, and youth empowerment, always trying to create a positive impact beyond the classroom.
My Belief
